Did the governments scheme to provide laptops in schools for pupils work?

Does anyone have an opinion of this? It would be good to hear from you - both good and bad experiences to relate. Making no pre-conceived conclusions on this but it would be good to feedback to the powers that be that throwing money at a solution does not always constitute results without the proper process, strategy and plan in place for their support and implementation.

I am referring to the scheme during the pandemic to provide access for those who were struggling to gain access to the internet.
